After not ever being able to gain any significant weight, CJ came to Assist Personal Training in Lilydale needing a different approach. An applied muscle testing session determined what foods he needed to eat and how much and his programming and training was personalised to his bodies needs resulting in over 12kg gained in 12 weeks.
We caught up with Cj Head to chat about how we were able to help him put on so much size in 12 weeks when he came on board in August 2016, highlighting the importance of personalised nutrition and training programs under the care of experienced trainers.
“Prior to working at Assist Personal Training in Lilydale I had never ever been able to put on any type of weight no matter what protein shake I took or weight gainer or even following structured weight training programs.
During my first 12 weeks of training at Assist Personal Training, as part of my mentoring, I was taught tips that allowed me to train and eat better. We improved my technique which enabled the correct muscles to be activated whilst weight training and the major point of difference which I had struggled massively in the past was to eat enough of the RIGHT food to be able to fuel my body correctly to gain the result I did! Before you ask yes this was even done without the post workout “protein shake”

There were definitely mornings and times where I felt like I couldn’t eat anymore food but I found the key to reaching my ultimate goal was to keep changing up the food I eat with the correct proteins, carbohydrates and fat sources, especially around training and with every meal!
With these structures in place in my first 12 weeks of training I was able to put on 13kgs with 12.4kgs of that weight being lean muscle mass!
I am currently sitting at a gain of 16kg and working hard to get to my ultimate goal of gaining 20kgs of weight.
In addition to hitting my own goals, my favourite thing about training at Assist is being a part of an community that supports each other while everyone trains hard to smash their goals!
