One of the magical things about training is that it teaches every client a very valuable lesson; if you knuckle down putting in the hard work and stay consistent with your actions, you can change your habits and turn your life around to achieve your ultimate goal or goals!
This was also my experience. In my 20’s I was placed in emergency housing for a week as I tried to find the next place to call my home. I had nothing. I was given a gift voucher to buy myself some clothes to attend a job interview for a temp agency to do admin work, which thankfully I got. When I did find myself a place to call home, I lived from month to month hoping enough work would come in to cover my rent. I was also existing in my body. I wasn’t happy with the direction my life was heading in and I certainly wasn’t satisfied with what I had settled for or allowed myself to become either. I was sick of being in the rut of unhappiness.
Sometimes, all it takes is someone to show a little belief in your potential.
But what are you willing to do to prove your potential? How deep are you willing to get into something to really benefit yourself. 50% for a 50% return? or 100% for a 100% return?
Starting out with a lifestyle change can be scary and overwhelming. 50% effort might be enough for where you’re at and it’s a good way to start getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.
For me personally, putting out 50% effort helped me realise I had created a false sense of fear based around change, and the walls I had put up were all just barriers to protect myself from failure or excuses to stop me from being disappointed or hurt again.
It made me start to wonder what was scarier? Settling for 50% effort and only being 50% happy with my life, or going all in 100% and doing everything within my power to succeed, because at 100% commitment, I couldn’t afford not to succeed!
So I chose 100% effort with 100% commitment and kept accepting the new opportunities I began attracting with the same attitude. Applying myself like this empowered me to become stronger, mentally and physically.
I started with small things but before long, the choices I was making began scaring the pants off me and the scarier the opportunity, the bigger my smile became. Getting myself a personal trainer and mentor was one of the best investments I could have ever made. Suddenly I had someone who helped me realise I was capable of more, encouraging me to do more and be better than I allowed myself to believe. I saw the beauty of my inner strength and I fell in love with the feeling of being empowered, by taking actions that helped me feel better as a person. No longer was I existing in my body, I had began living!
As a trainer, it is truly the most rewarding experience to pass that gift on. In 2015, we started tweaking the content in our 12 week challenges to include extra personalised coaching sessions plus added in so many more valuable lessons to help our clients reach their health and wellness goals and presented it in a way that brings about big shifts in their lives. Today we received this poem from one of our local clients in Mt Evelyn .
What Assist has meant to me in 2015.
Before this year you know I came
broken, hurt and tattered,
but I knew if I stayed on track with you
I wouldn’t leave so poor and battered.
And when I was at my emptiest point
when ASSIST became my HOPE,
with squats, and runs, and a few chest pulls
it became my grace to cope.
By watching ASSIST and seeing life
and watching You, my trainer,
that penny dropped of what I could have
which of course this was not a brainer.
We all deserve a HEALTHY life
a dream, a hope, a home,
to enjoy the life we can have in full
and never feel so alone.
My gratitude to you, is simply this
with all of the time you give,
I would never have changed or stepped out of pain
of a life I thought I’d live.
With 100% commitment, my life and the lives of many others have been able to change! We feel truly blessed to be able to offer a holistic service that offers a life changing experience for our clients!
