This is 5 weeks between photos. 20th June vs 25th July.
How does your body deal with stress?
We have a slide we like to show our clients in their Discovery Session with us that we got from a course we did a couple of years ago showing the many ways stress affects the body. Here’s just a couple of pathways highlighted on this slide.
Stress impacts:
• Physique – by increasing body fat > reducing lean body mass > reducing strength > increasing lactate > decreasing performance
• Thyroid – resulting in low thyroid output > low conversion > increased rT3 > sluggish metabolism
• Gut/Immune – resulting in intestinal permeability > allergies > impaired nutrient absorption > autoimmunity > affecting our behaviour Stress is responsible for many complications throughout the entire body.
Our slide also goes on the show the effect on the liver and kidneys, pancreas and blood sugar, inflammation, the brain and the nervous system. It’s quite fascinating.
For fast changes to happen we need to address things from a few perspectives.
Physically we need to make changes to help improve our situation, training in a way that our body best responds too, eating the right foods for our goals and body and lifestyle adjustments.
Mentally we need to change so that our thoughts become more positive which changes the cycle of our actions and behaviours. Energetically we need remove the impact those emotions physically have on our body. This can settle in the form of pain or anything else associated with stress and the way stress impacts our body.
This is my belly. I knew something was up shit creek because mentally I was keeping myself in a good place, I was back to training regularly, I was avoiding foods that cause inflammation in my body yet I looked inflamed as someone who was consuming inflammatory foods.
What wasn’t in my favour was sleep. 2.5 years of sleepless nights after becoming a Mum began to catch up with me despite my healthy lifestyle. I wasn’t putting myself first in all cases and I definitely prioritised work over my needs. But lack of sleep wasn’t the actual issue, it was what brought it all to a head.
The root of the issue had everything to do with my beliefs and fears. This belly on the left wasn’t there 12 months after I gave birth to my son but slowly after about 18 months, this stubborn body fat accumulated and wouldn’t budge. My hormones were all over the place and I began showing signs of adrenal fatigue. Before Training: Average of 2 hours per week Nutrition: Gluten free, dairy free, eating whatever I like except one accidental exposure to gluten a week AFTER the before photo was taken. Now
Sleep: Still waiting for a full nights sleep
Training: The same – an average of 2 hours per week
Nutrition: The same – gluten free, dairy free, eating whatever else I like when I like.
The difference The after photo is 5 weeks after I started energetically removing emotions, feelings and beliefs causing me stress. I addressed the reasons behind my some of my actions and fears, most of which came back to more work that needed to be done on unconditional self love and self worth.
The result = emotional freedom, universal reassurance that I’m back on track and I have my waistline back!
